How To Get Your Real Estate Salesperson License
The South Carolina Real Estate Commission (SCREC) requires that all individuals seeking real estate licensure meet the following requirements:
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Have a high school diploma or GED
- Provide a criminal background check
- Complete 90 hours of pre-licensing coursework with an approved real estate education provider
- Receive a passing score on the SCREC license exam

Unit I Salesperson Pre-Licensing Course
This 60-hour course is a mandatory part of the South Carolina pre-licensing education program for real estate agents. After completing this course, students are eligible to take the South Carolina Real Estate Exam, however they will still need to complete Unit II in order to meet their license requirements.

Unit II Advanced Real Estate Principles Course
This 30-hour course is the second part of the South Carolina real estate education program and is required for all applicants. This course covers more advanced real estate concepts and builds on topics covered in Unit I.

- PL-2: Real Estate Contracts
- PL-3: Ethics in Real Estate
- PL-4: Measurement, Valuation, and Appraisals
- PL-5: Practice of Real Estate
